Would you want to meet your sponsor child?

The couple we stayed with in Kitale Kenya have lived there for almost a decade. What took them to Kenya in the beginning was the plight of the street kids. Instead of rescuing kids and putting them in orphanages they find them healthy family homes, kind of like our foster system. There is no government support for this work so they look to their connections in Canada to support these kids. The doctor I travelled with had been supporting one of their kids for awhile now and she got to meet her!

To me this was like a dream. Our family has been supporting a girl in Thailand for many years now. I dream of meeting her one day. To see my best friend experience that…there are no words. So I painted her. Well, yeah it did not make it difficult being that she is so beautiful.

She arrived home from school and wanted to quickly change out of her uniform. She was very ‘shy’ and I just grabbed one photo of her as not to make her feel like the centre of attention. And I got this first photo. She is filled with beauty and grace.
